No. Oasis Housing is not an emergency shelter or crisis service. If someone is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Oasis Housing provides transitional and permanent housing for high-risk adults with mental illness in a safe, supportive, family-style environment. Our goal is to help residents live as independently and successfully as possible while receiving the support they need.
Oasis Housing serves adults with mental illness who need a stable living environment and supportive services. Adults who are nonviolent and substance abuse free for a minimum of six months may be considered. Eligibility is determined through an assessment process to ensure our program is a good fit for each individual's needs.
Oasis Housing provides transitional and permanent supportive housing in a compassionate, family-style environment. Our attractive homes are located in residential neighborhoods and are designed to offer safety, stability, respect, and a sense of belonging. Most residents share a bedroom with one other person. Our homes are not locked facilities, and residents are free to come and go as they choose. Family, friends, caregivers, and support professionals are welcome, just as they would be in any other home.
Services may include assistance with daily living skills, medication support, coordination with healthcare providers, transportation assistance, community integration, and a supportive family-style home environment. Residents receive encouragement toward independence, shared meals, social connection, activities, and a safe environment built on dignity and respect. Our goal is to help each person feel supported and truly at home.
Chores are part of everyday living. Having responsibilities and accomplishing them builds confidence and creates opportunities for praise and positive reinforcement. Trying something new or challenging helps residents develop important life skills while encouraging independence.
Yes. Trained staff are available to provide support, supervision, and assistance based on each resident's individual needs. Residents also have a community support team that may include a medical team, case manager, therapist, and social worker who regularly visit the home.
Yes. Family members and caregivers are an important part of a resident's support system. When appropriate and with respect for privacy, we encourage open communication and involvement that helps residents feel supported and cared for.
No. Oasis Housing is a housing and supportive services provider. While we work closely with residents' mental health professionals and healthcare providers, we do not provide mental health treatment ourselves.
Individuals, family members, case managers, hospitals, and community agencies may contact Oasis Housing to discuss eligibility and begin the referral process. The Oasis Housing website includes a contact form where questions, referrals, and requests can be submitted. If you are interested in housing for yourself, a loved one, or someone you support, please contact us directly to discuss availability, eligibility, and the next steps.
You can support Oasis Housing by making a donation, sharing our mission, volunteering when opportunities are available, or helping with current needs. Every gift helps provide safe housing, daily support, and a caring environment for residents. We are also seeking individuals who are committed to improving the lives of people living with mental illness to serve as Board Members.
The Vision Project is Oasis Housing's initiative to expand supportive housing so we can serve more individuals and families impacted by mental illness. This project will create additional long-term, trauma-informed housing where residents can find stability, community, and hope.
Families consistently describe Oasis Housing as a safe, caring, and supportive environment that provides both independence and compassionate care. They value the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved ones are well cared for, supported with daily needs, and able to participate in meaningful activities while living in a family-style home.
Family Testimonial #1
When my older sister was committed to the University of Utah Hospital in the fall of 2021, we knew she could never live safely on her own again. We also knew no one in our family was equipped to care for her. The fear of our sister ending up on the streets, possibly harming herself or others, weighed heavily on us.
Just after Christmas 2021, our sister moved directly from the hospital into Oasis House, and it has been a gift to our sister and our family ever since. Oasis House is the perfect balance of respectful, independent living and loving care. My sister will often say, "Sharon loves me!" and then detail how Sharon helps her with medications and appointments, plans fun outings, and prepares delicious meals.
We've watched our sister struggle with schizophrenia for 40 years. I will never forget how helpless we felt in the fall of 2021. That feels a world away now because of Oasis House.
Family Testimonial #2
Having a sibling who has been challenged with mental health for decades, I am truly grateful that she has a place to live. If not for Oasis House, with its supervision and family-like care and concern, I don't know what we, as a family, would do to take care of her.
Oasis Housing has created a nurturing environment that provides independent living with the boundaries and support she needs. My sister enjoys weekly outings to the library, the pool—which is her favorite form of exercise—and church. Thank you, Oasis House. I can visit my sister as often as time permits and have the peace of mind knowing she is well-fed, cared for, and living in a supportive home.
